Martin A. Spigner

Martin A. Spigner is a sole practitioner whose law practice concentrates in most areas of business law with an emphasis on individual, business and estate tax planning and elder law. In addition, other areas include representation before the tax authorities, financial planning, real estate, corporate & partnership planning and pension & retirement planning.

The firm also provides complete accounting and tax preparation services for individuals and businesses.

Clients include individuals, trusts and various types of small businesses in such fields as medicine, dentistry, food, construction and fashion. The firm provides service on an appointment or walk-in basis to individuals or businesses who need the services of an experienced business attorney.

The firm employs a full-time accountant and enjoys the Of Counsel relationship with Michael S. Wernick, Esq., of Harrison, N.J., whose law practice parallels that of Martin A. Spigner and Kenneth A. Vercammen, of Edison, N.J. who practice encompasses personal injury, litigation, municipal court and other business law, estate and elder law services. The firm maintains a good working relationship with attorneys, CPAs and other professionals in the event specialized expertise in another area is required.

History Education And Training

Beginning in 1977 for the S.W . Childs Management Corporation in New York City, Martin began his professional career in the tax field. At that time, he also formed his own tax consulting firm which continued through 1984 when he founded his law practice. Through 1986, while working as a sole practitioner, he joined the tax departments of two CPA firms, respectively. In 1986, Martin joined the Tax Department of Crum & Foster Corporation, a Xerox subsidiary, as a tax attorney in the research and planning group. In order to devote his full time and energies to his clients, Mr. Spigner left Crum & Foster in 1991.

Martin graduated from New York University in 1977 with a B.A. degree and from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University, in 1984 with his Juris Doctor degree in Law. In May 1991, he received his Masters of Law (LL.M.) degree in Taxation from Villanova University. He is a member of the Section of Taxation and Elder Law Committees of the American Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Association. He has also lectured on various tax planning and elder law issues for the State and County Bars, specifically, The Nuts & Bolts of Elder Law & Estate Administration, and has been featured as a guest on W CTC- 1450 AM Radio in New Brunswick.

Mr. Spigner is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court for New Jersey, U.S. Claims Court, U.S. Tax Court, NJ Supreme Court and the Courts of New York State.
